Re: Internet Politics (Evgeny Morozov & Ethan Zuckerman)
This was a really enjoyable diavlog. Nice to have some actual technical meat and potatoes. More along these lines, please.
I also thought Evgeny and Ethan had smarter things to say about trying to understand events via social media than I've heard from almost any other talking heads.

About Ethan's point that "cyber-warfare" stories tend to use hyperboly when talking about these attacks actual consequences, aren't there actually Denial of Service attacks that rewrite people's firmware, resulting in permanent hardware loss?
Also, it would be interesting to hear Ethan/Evgeny's thoughts on how the absolutely massive explosion of bandwidth (Due mainly to WDM, Wavelength Division Multiplexing) has affected the relative viability of different forms of Denial of Service attacks.
It would be cool if we could get a diavlog about Fiber Optics, its a rather fast evolving field. Its kind of strange how little you hear about it, considering how much it has transformed the internet, and will continue to do so.

That kind of attack sounds far more sophisticated than the routine DOS attacks that apparently occured a few days ago.
I thought linking the attack to North Korea was pretty shameless by the way. The media ought to far more skeptical of such claims, though often they just aren't clued up enough to pass comment on such matters. How long before such attacks are used as a casus belli, I wonder if we will see digital sanctions?
As for filtering-out bot traffic, I think the ISPs will have to come up with some filtering software that operates centerally to spot and block bot generated traffic. Google has for years blocked search requests that it thinks are bot generated, and although not perfect this maybe the best approach.

Re: Internet Politics (Evgeny Morozov & Ethan Zuckerman)
I wonder how many people ended up watching this one. What indicators do we have, besides how active a thread was in the forum?

look: What do Bob and Byron have in common?

rcocean: Cats LOL.

ledocs: Bob’s use of praeteritio here could have been more subtle.

Bokonon: I think this little snippet shows just how much Bob has grown since he read my post.

listener: I’ll be here all week, folks. And don’t forget to tip your waitress!

Bokonon: We’ve been suspecting this for quite a while now.

graz: Hey … preach it if you feel so inclined!

sapeye: Apparently John doesn’t completely agree with Maureen Dowd.

Bokonon: The Self-Reflexive Scandal.

uncle ebeneezer: New Talking Mickey Kaus Doll! Just pull the string and it says....

Simon Willard: My big chance to engage Bob in a substantive discussion, and this is what I get.

chamblee54: The acronym for this is wiz.

Bokonon: Bob throws down the gauntlet with a very techie euphemism in the wankfest war.

graz: The video equivalent of the godfather kiss of death.

Ocean: I couldn’t refute Michelle G’s description of parenthood.

propagandhi: The ev psych dissection of Chris Bosh.

Bokonon: The origin of Norman Bates.

T.G.G.P : Methinks she doth protest too much. Did that laugh sound forced to anyone else?

uncle ebeneezer: McChrystal ... or Phil Jackson?

uncle ebeneezer: No wonder we’ve all been acting so impulsively since Bob asked us not to use sarcasm!

bjkeefe: Censorship! or, the new BhTV tagline?

graz: A telling slip.

listener: FDR: The real Miracle Worker.
