On Adamize, Adam and Brentin discuss the Tea Party push for voter ID laws. Would these laws be less onerous if states provided voters with free IDs? Is there a constitutional right to vote, and would universal voter registration make a difference? Has the Obama administration adequately enforced civil rights laws with regard to voting? Switching gears, they criticize conservative outlets for hyping a 2007 video of Obama discussing race. Finally, they differ over whether race played a role in Obama’s poor showing in the first debate.

On Adamize, Adam and John discuss the leaked video of Mitt Romney, which Adam helped edit for Mother Jones. Adam expresses skepticism that the video captures Romney’s true beliefs. They then turn to Romney’s comments on Palestinians. Are the Palestinian people really opposed to a two-state solution? Was Romney’s response to the embassy attacks in Libya fair? Finally, they debate the Obama administration’s overall handling of the protests in the Arab world.

On Adamize, Adam and Dan discuss the GOP convention in Tampa. Can Ann Romney humanize her husband, or should she just portray him as a job-creating robot? Dan recounts how the pro-life movement disowned Todd Akin, and Adam explains why rape exceptions for abortion are a tricky issue for Republicans. Gay and lesbian Republicans may be an awkward fit for the GOP convention, but Dan reports that they’re making themselves known. Finally, Adam argues that Ann Romney’s favorite TV show, Modern Family, proves that the gay rights movement is destined for victory.

On the premiere episode of Adamize, Adam Serwer talks to Anna Holmes about the London Olympics, touching on the racial politics surrounding gymnast Gabby Douglas and the fetishization of biracial women like hurdler Lolo Jones. Adam notices that female athletes are overshadowing the male athletes this year. Pivoting to the election, Anna asks whether attempts to paint Obama as a cultural “other” will work. Adam wonders what’s in Mitt’s tax returns, and stands in awe of Harry Reid’s wild allegations about Romney’s taxes. In closing, Anna suggests that Democrats should “troll” Republicans more often.
