Re: UN Plaza: Happy Election Day
how badly does this site need more matt lees? even though the election saga was a possibly a little too drawn out, it bled into some fairly interesting organizational and procedural issues. the rest of the diavlog was golden, though. i'm looking forward to hearing mark's take on the soros funds next go-around with a view towards renewing the greater debate about un functionality and reform recommendations that these guys have been locking horns over intermittently. i would encourage a more organized discussion focused on the greater structural issues not necessarily prompted by the latest goings-on from time to time. the current events rundown is great, but i don't think the general subject of un/global politics needs to always be approached that way. again, i'll say that un plaza is easily the bhtv segment i look forward to the most each week owing to the quality of the analysis.

Happy UN Day! Oct. 24, 2008
The anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Charter on 24 October 1945 has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. It has traditionally been marked throughout the world by meetings, discussions and exhibits on the achievements and goals of the Organization. In 1971, the General Assembly recommended that Member States observe it as a public holiday.
I can't imagine why the Bush administration hasn't implemented that public holiday thing.
