Re: UN Plaza: Europe-Bashing Edition
If the more of the focus of the UN was put on building human rights instead of achieving stability by 'peacekeeping,' they would discover that they are generating much more sustained peace.

Re: UN Plaza: Europe-Bashing Edition
forgive me, but mark's opening description of the congo massacre is a perfect example of why i don't pay any attention to the UN. do you guys really think it's gonna be any different any time soon? this is what happens in africa. i cannot imagine how quixotic one must have to be think that things will change.

Don't let the sparse comments fool you. This was a great diavlog. Around 20 minutes in they start getting pretty scrappy. And the pushback continues pretty much for the rest of the episode. Good times. thanx guys. Look forward to the Year-End edition.

Why muddle your message with all of those other words?

Still the best of B-Heads.
Someday, I hope that Matthew will have the realization of a lifetime: he belongs with those Anarchists.
I hope it happens for him--just not yet.

This dialog would be 200% better if these guys stopped talking over each other. Video esthetics don't forgive this overlapping dialog nearly as much as these two might think based on their experience on the phone.

Yes, but it seems they have some competition now. Watch out Matt & Mark:

I gotta say, I sometimes feel like these guys when I'm watching UN Plaza, as much as I enjoy it.

I sometimes think I make that complaint more than most people, but I don't have a problem with M & M's rhythm. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to their speech patterns.

Re: UN Plaza: Europe-Bashing Edition
Really enjoyable diavlog, even by UNP's high standards.
I quite liked the debate at the end about the double standard. I think I've said before, but it bears repeating: I appreciate that you're a reporter, Matthew, but bringing informed opinion and calling them as you see them when you're doing analysis really helps me get the bigger picture.
Good on Mark, too, for being willing to take the opposing side, on this and other questions during the diavlog, whether or not he truly believed in being opposite to Matthew every time. It was the best kind of debate -- the kind that informs the listeners.

Re: UN Plaza: Europe-Bashing Edition
Couldn't agree more. These guys do the pushback thang to each other in the best possible way. And I love that both of them are willing to play Devil's advocate in order to keep flushing (fleshing?) out important points in the subject matter. Onion's got nothing on UNP!
